Strong Schools: Promote safer and stronger schools that will help our students succeed

Victor Ramirez attended Mt. Rainier and Thomas S. Stone Elementary schools and Hyattsville Middle School. He is a proud graduate of Northwestern High School and is a practicing attorney with his office located in Hyattsville. Victor's wife, Betsy, attended and graduated from Prince George's County Public Schools and is now public school educator.  He and his wife have two young children and they personally know that every child deserves a safe classroom – and a school that can help them succeed.

Victor will push for early childhood initiatives and learning hubs so every child begins school ready to learn and receives the proper help they deserve. Additionally, he will advocate for vocational and STEM programs and to build new schools and renovate the ones that need up keeping.

Smart Development: Smart growth and environmental protection

The Arts District on Route One has developed into a thriving commerce location that allows residents a gathering place in the northern part of Prince George’s County. On the County Council, Victor will use that success as an inspiration and a model, working to bring life to public spaces. He'll advocate to turn eyesores into assets, and get new businesses and jobs into other parts of the district. He will ensure that development is sustainable and environmentally responsible.

Honor Seniors: Keeping our promise to our seniors

Victor's parents still live in Mt. Rainier in the house where he and his three siblings grew up in. Both his parents are retired, and through them he knows first-hand the struggles seniors experience financially and with their health. This is why he is so passionate about ensuring that Prince George’s County seniors have a chance to live their best life in our county.

Clean Neighborhoods: Community enhancement

Property standards are important to our quality of life. Victor understands the importance of having responsive county agencies in order to protect the livability of our communities.

Bulky trash is a problem in many neighborhoods. It’s unsightly, unhealthy and unacceptable. Our residents need regular, predictable bulky trash pickup and we need more resources to keep our communities litter-free.

Greater transparency in government will lead to improvement in services. Information is power!

Public Transportation: Expanding services

Victor Ramirez is a strong supporter of public transportation. Victor supports the completion of the Purple Line and believes that it’s very important to the development of the northern part of the county; and in the southern part of the county, it’s the Southern Maryland Transit Project (SMRT).

The SMRT would stretch from Branch Avenue at the southern end of WMATA’s Green Line into Charles County. The County should expand The Bus service and in doing so they should electrify the fleet. Additionally, Victor will encourage WMATA to expand bus and train services.
