About Victor
Victor Ramirez grew up in Mount Rainer. As a child, Victor attended Thomas Stone Elementary School and Hyattsville Middle School, playing sports at the Hyattsville-Mount Rainier-Brentwood Boys and Girls Club until high school. He attended Northwestern High, where he played football, soccer and baseball. Victor received his B.A. at Frostburg State University and his J.D. degree at St. Thomas University School of Law. Victor then returned home to Mount Rainier to make a difference. He volunteered locally as an ESL teacher, and youth soccer coach and mentor. He opened up his own law firm and committed himself to public service. As a member of Maryland State, Maryland Hispanic, and Prince George’s County bar associations, he has also worked pro bono for organizations like the House of Ruth, providing domestic violence victims with free legal support in court. He is currently a practicing attorney and partner at Malouf and Ramirez, LLP.
Since 2003, Victor has worked diligently on behalf of District 47, eight years as a Delegate, and now as State Senator. As Delegate, Victor worked to reduce domestic violence, crime, gang activity, and liquor licenses within our communities. He served as Deputy Majority Whip and was on both the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees. He currently serves on the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, and is a member of the Maryland Educators Caucus and the Maryland Veterans Caucus. He was the lead sponsor of the Maryland DREAM Act which passed in the 2011 Legislative Session.Victor continues to stay focused on increasing educational opportunities, improving transportation accessibility, increasing housing affordability, obtaining healthcare accessibility and affordability, as well as ensuring access to elderly care.
He is a parishioner at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly, Maryland where he resides with his wife, Betsy, and their daughter.
